Prof. L.O. Tiamiyu began his career in education in 1990 as an assistant lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, now Joseph Sarwuam Tarka University, Makurdi. He advanced through the ranks and was appointed professor in 2011. In 2016, he then moved his service to the University of Ilorin. He specializes in fish nutrition and aquaculture. He has performed numerous services for the university, including as chairman. Dean, College of Forestry and Fisheries, and University of Agriculture, Makurdi, 2006–2010. University of Agriculture, Makurdi Library Committee, 2013–2016. Chairman, Subcommittee on Accommodation, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, 2014–2016. He also held the positions of Member of the Accreditation Team (National University Commission), Resources Person for the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) Kaduna for the Accreditation Exercise from 2001 to the present, and Chairman of the Teaching and Research Farm at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, from 2019 to the present. With more than 120 papers in both domestic and foreign publications, he has supervised many undergraduate students, 50 Masters students, and 10 PhD students. He has also been awarded numerous research funds, including TETFUND. He has four children and is happily married.
