Ibrahim Adeshina, Ph.D., is an academic staff member in the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries, University of Ilorin, Ilorin. He teaches and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Nigerian and foreign universities. His research and teaching interests cover various aspects of aquaculture, including fish health management, aquaculture, and the use of natural additives in aquatic systems. His research includes determination of optimum requirements for the use of various nutrients, development and evaluation of feedstuffs and additives, susceptibility to diseases, wound healing, immunology, and pathogenicity for various fish species, including African catfish, tilapia, carp, and hybrid catfish. The targeted goal of his research program is improving sustainability and production efficiency in aquaculture and enhancing the health and well-being of cultured organisms. His important contributions to the scientific community have been documented in several peer-reviewed journal articles in national and international publication outlets.

Dr. Adeshina has enjoyed many grants and collaborations corporate organizations, government and international agencies. He is a member of many learned societies such as World Aquaculture Society, European Association of Fish Pathologist, Fisheries Society of British Isle, Fisheries Society of Nigeria, and Association of Nigerian Fisheries Scientists, among others. He is very active in community service especially cultural activities.

Dr. Adeshina has served as the Financial Secretary and Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ilorin Branch contributing to the welfare of staff. Beyond academia, he founded Jewel Fisheries and Farms to promote healthy fish production, food security, and innovations for sustainable farming.
