Vision Statement

To have a department that will serve as the center of excellence for the training of students, professionals, farmers, and interest groups to ensure the availability of adequate quality protein, food security, and advancement of knowledge in Nigeria.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Department is to:

• Produce skilled personnel in the specialty areas of aquaculture and fisheries,
• Train trainers in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries suitable for the tertiary institutions,
• Replace the unskilled personnel in commercial aquaculture and fisheries for a sustainable ecosystem, 
• Produce graduates with an orientation towards self-employment.
• Produce graduates with sufficient technical, production, and entrepreneurial skills in all aspects of aquaculture and fisheries,
• Provide up-to-date and current techniques in aquaculture and fisheries necessary for sustainable production.
• Produce graduates in aquaculture and fisheries for the relevant state and federal government establishments.
